About Course Reader Material

Course readers for UCLA classes since 1990. Printed books shipped to your door, and eBooks you can read online minutes after checkout.

Who we are

Course Reader Material is a Los Angeles company that has produced course readers for UCLA professors since 1990. Our office is at 1080 Broxton Ave in Westwood Village, a short walk from campus, and we work with professors anywhere in the United States.

What is a course reader? It is a custom book made for one class: the articles, book chapters, and other materials a professor assigns, collected in one volume with the copyright permissions cleared. Instead of buying several books to read one chapter from each, students buy one reader with exactly what the class uses.

A professor sends us the materials. We clear the permissions, lay out the book, and make it available on this site as a printed softcover book, an eBook you read online, or both. Students create a free account, find their class, and check out. Printed books ship by USPS with tracking; eBooks open in our online reader within minutes.

Printed books

Softcover readers printed for your class and shipped by USPS with tracking. Shipping is $8 per book in the US and $20 per book outside the US.

eBooks

Read online in our reader on any device, usually within minutes of checkout. Access lasts through the end of the term.

For professors

Send us your materials and we do the rest, usually the same day. You and your TAs get free desk copies of printed readers.
