This Privacy Policy explains how Course Reader Material LLC, doing business as Course Reader Material (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit CourseReaderMaterial.com (the “Site”), create an account, or buy a printed course reader or eBook from us. By using the Site you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect.

• Account and order information you give us: name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), billing and shipping address, phone number, the course readers you buy, and your order history.
• Payment information: your payment details are entered into and processed by our payment providers (Stripe). We receive a confirmation, the last four digits of the card, and the billing name and address; we never receive or store your full card number.
• eBook access information: when you buy an eBook, we and our eBook platform provider record that the eBook was added to your library and when it is redeemed and opened, so we can support you and confirm delivery.
• Messages you send us: contact-form submissions, emails, and text messages, which we keep so we can answer you and keep a record of your order history.
• Automatically collected information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and the date and time of visits, collected through server logs and the cookies described in section 5.
• Account security information: when you sign in or open My Library we record the date and time, your IP address, your browser, and a random device identifier stored in a cookie, so we can detect an account being used on several devices. We keep the most recent 80 of these records for each account.

2. How we use it. We use personal information to: create and manage your account; process payments and fulfill orders, including shipping physical books and granting eBook access; send order confirmations, shipping and tracking updates, and eBook access instructions by email or text; answer your questions and resolve problems; detect and prevent fraud, and respond to payment disputes and chargebacks; enforce our Terms and Conditions and protect our and our instructors’ intellectual property; comply with tax, accounting, and other legal obligations; and maintain and improve the Site. We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Legal bases (for visitors in the EEA, UK, or similar jurisdictions). We process personal information to perform our contract with you (your account and orders), to comply with legal obligations (tax and accounting records), for our legitimate interests (site security, fraud prevention, defending disputes, improving the Site), and with your consent where required (marketing).

4. Who we share it with. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. We share it only with service providers that need it to run the Site and fulfill your order, under their own privacy commitments:

• Payment processing: Stripe (credit and debit cards).
• eBook delivery and reading: our eBook hosting and reading platform provider, which receives your name and email address to create your eBook library and records your reading access.
• Shipping: USPS, which receives your name, address, and phone number to deliver physical books.
• Website hosting and infrastructure: WP Engine (hosting), WooCommerce and WordPress (store software), Elementor (page and form software), Google reCAPTCHA on our sign-up form (which receives your IP address and browser information to tell people from bots).
• Professional advisers, and authorities or courts when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect our rights, customers, or instructors, including in payment disputes.

5. Cookies. The Site uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the store: WordPress and WooCommerce cookies that keep you logged in, remember your cart and session, and secure checkout; Stripe cookies that help prevent payment fraud. Our sign-up form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block automated sign-ups; it may set a Google cookie and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the Site’s cart, login, and checkout will not work without the necessary cookies. A cookie named crm_device (kept for 400 days) holds a random device identifier used only to tell your devices apart for account security.

6. How long we keep it. Order, payment, shipping, and eBook access records are kept for seven years after the order for tax, accounting, and dispute purposes. Account information is kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months after you ask us to close it, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a dispute. Contact-form messages and support correspondence are kept for 24 months. Server logs are kept for 90 days.

7. Your choices and rights. You can view and update your account details, addresses, and order history at any time under My Account. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any message. Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, or to object to or restrict certain processing; email support@coursereadermaterial.com from the address on your account and we will respond within 45 days (or the period required by your local law). We may keep information we need for tax records, to complete a transaction, to defend a dispute, or as otherwise permitted by law.

8. California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months, so there is no “Do Not Sell or Share” choice to offer. The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers, commercial information (purchases), internet activity (site visits), and, through our payment providers, payment information, for the purposes in section 2. To the extent the CCPA applies, California residents may request to know, delete, or correct their personal information, may designate an authorized agent, and will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights; contact us as described in section 7, and we will verify your request using your account email. Under California Civil Code section 1798.83 you may also ask whether we have disclosed personal information to third parties for their direct marketing; we do not.

9. Visitors outside the United States. We are located in Los Angeles, California, and the Site is hosted in the United States. If you order from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on standard contractual protections with our service providers for such transfers. Residents of the EEA and UK have the rights described in section 7 and may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

10. Security. The Site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored in hashed form, payments are handled by PCI-DSS-compliant providers, and access to customer records is limited to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; please keep your password confidential and tell us at once if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

11. Children. The Site is intended for college students and instructors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Users between 13 and 17 may use the Site only with a parent or guardian’s consent.

12. Changes. We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version; material changes will be announced on the Site or by email to account holders.
